About Atelier Tom Lake
Atelier Tom Lake began as a spark of inspiration in a cozy Amsterdam art gallery around 2012. Amid abstract paintings spread across the floor, we found ourselves asking a simple question: what if art wasn’t just something you hang on a wall, but something you could truly live with? That idea led us to transform abstract canvases into rugs—allowing people to stand on, live in, and experience art every day. Rooted in European studio culture, abstract art, and creative experimentation, the concept of Atelier Tom Lake was born.
Today, Atelier Tom Lake still holds true to that original vision. We’ve grown into a boutique design studio spanning both Europe and Singapore, with our rugs meticulously crafted by artisans in India from the finest New Zealand wool. We work with a wide range of clients across the hospitality industry, retail, corporate spaces, design studios, architects, and residential customers worldwide. Each piece we create is a celebration of art—designed to energize spaces, spark emotion, and help places truly flourish.
